Hidden Grounds Makes a Fourth Stop in Hoboken

A new addition to the Mile Square City is Hidden Grounds Coffee, a coffee shop dedicated to providing state of the art beverages for those who want to try something out of the ordinary.
“After opening two locations in such areas like New Brunswick and Jersey City, Hoboken was the right next step for us,” said Anand Patel, Co-owner of Hidden Grounds Coffee. “The energy of the town is just unbelievable.”
Patel and his businesses partner Spoorthi Kumar are the founders of Hidden Grounds Coffee. Prior to launching their first cafe, both Patel and Kumar worked for Johnson & Johnson straight after college. Although they worked for such a respectable company, the duo felt there was so much more they could do with their lives.
“After talking about it with our friends for years, we decided to one day drive down Easton Ave in New Brunswick, NJ to check out places to lease,” said Patel. “Our impulse led us to sign the lease for the place the very next day.”
The lease for the space was signed and Patel and Kumar weren’t sure what type of business they were going to launch or what products they were going to sell. Both of them discussed their different interests as well as curiosities and once they did so, Patel and Kumar decided to sell coffee.
“Since our first location is in the basement, tucked away from the main street, we decided to call it Hidden Grounds,” said Patel.
Ever since then, Hidden Grounds began to expand.
“All of our locations are designed very differently from one another,” stated Patel. “They all follow a theme we decide on before we embark on a journey to construct the place.”
Although all locales have the same name, Patel mentioned that the Hidden Grounds expression is that a single customer should be able to go to all four locations in a single day and still feel like they went to four different coffee shops.
“Besides that, we usually add a new category of food or drinks at each of our new shops,” he said. “This time, we are planning on something special around food.”
Even though the Hidden Grounds in Hoboken will have a special food menu, the shop will be offering its unique drinks such as the Rose Chai and Saffron Chai, an option that is less sweet for those who want a lighter drink.
“Out of this, the most popular is the Rose Chai, which is something we’ve grown up drinking in India,” said Patel. “We’ve taken the experience of drinking this from our childhood and infused it with some modern garnishing like pistachios.”
Hidden Grounds Coffee will be located at 700 Garden Street and is planning on opening its doors later this month, once all licenses are approved. If interested, the coffee shop is also hiring and you can apply using the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/JBLcq69iNcM80Y4O2.
