Residents invited to Rebuild by Design/Harborside Park design workshops
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) invites residents to upcoming Design Zone Workshops on February 4 and 7 at 7:00 pm for Hoboken’s Rebuild by Design flood protection project.
The workshops will focus on designs for Harborside Park, which will be incorporated into the flood protection strategy to resist storm surge from the Hudson River.
“I invite all residents to join us for this design meeting as we move forward with our $230 million Rebuild by Design project,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “We want your input as Harborside Park is designed to both provide amenities to our community with open space while incorporating innovative flood protection from storm surge.”

ABOUT REBUILD BY DESIGN
The Rebuild by Design - Hudson River Project is a comprehensive urban floodwater management strategy to reduce the flood risk from storm surge and rainfall flood events to flood prone areas within the Project Area, which comprises the entire City of Hoboken, and adjacent areas of Weehawken and Jersey City. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $230 million to the State of New Jersey for the Project, which includes the design and environmental impact analysis of the overall comprehensive master plan of the entire project (including the Resist and Delay, Store, Discharge components) and funding for the construction of the Resist components (coastal storm surge projects).
