A special reason to support Hoboken public schools this #GivingTuesday

Hoboken – The Hoboken Public Education Foundation (HobokenPEF) will join #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide tomorrow.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

By joining HobokenPEF’s #GivingTuesday initiative, people will help enhance Hoboken’s public schools with 100% of donations received going to Brandt, Calabro, Connors, Wallace, Hoboken Middle School and Hoboken High School.

This #GivingTuesday, President and Co-founder of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation, Shirael Pollack has bravely shared her own personal story to show the impact of a good public education and how society benefits from its advancement.

“After recently being diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer, I have had the opportunity to reflect and appreciate my work with HobokenPEF so much more.
On my journey with this disease, I have met so many doctors and health care professionals who have committed their lives to helping others through science. And I have learned that these professionals became inspired to do so while attending public schools.

I believe their experiences in school as young students resonated with them and helped shape who they are today. This #GivingTuesday I am so thankful for being alive and so proud of the exceptional work that the Hoboken Public Education Foundation does for Hoboken public schools.

HobokenPEF provides interactive learning opportunities to all public school students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, math, global conflict resolution and much more.

I believe that the programs we support and fund will foster tomorrow’s scientists, oncologists and world-problem solvers. And maybe, just maybe, a cure for all cancer will result,” said Ms. Pollack.

HobokenPEF works closely with Hoboken Public School District Superintendent, Dr. Christine Johnson, to identify innovative opportunities for the funds raised in the areas of experiential learning, essential technology, enhanced facilities, and continued improvement of Hoboken’s public schools.
